I'm looking for a book for beginners such as basically learning to read notes for the violin and other stuff - because I'm starting to learn violin in a few weeks, and so forth I'm to prepare for it
please recommend some good books and could you please put a website link to a specific place such as Ebay,Amazon etc
i play guitar will it be an advantage to learning violin or not?
I'd like to learn two instruments. I've already decided to play the piano because there's one in my house and I used to go to lessons. I'm now trying to choose between these:
Violin
Viola
Saxophone
Mandolin
Harp
What do you think I should learn and why?
I want to learn violin, but living in a flat people I can't just play it - so people have suggested I use a mute. Will this work for a beginner?
Otherwise ill have to put off learning it for a few years . . ?
I am doing my Grade 3 exam Soon in the violin.
And have not learnt ANY of my scales apart from Chramatic!

How much should I be prepared to pay for a Violin in England, and what should I be looking for? I've never even held a violin but they are one of my favorite instruments and i'd love to learn.
I'm looking for a piece to play with a violinist for my AS music performance. There are a lot of pieces out there but I am only grade 7 (abrsm) standard and the performace can't last longer than four minutes, so it's difficult to find a piece. Plus the violin part can't be too time consuming and difficult to learn either.

Basically my dad got me a violin for christmas because I want to learn and my sister said I'll have to cut my nails really short, I just thought I'd come on here to find out if I would need to.
I haven't begun lessons yet but plan to soon. Will I have trouble playing a regular violin being left-handed? Do I need to find a specially made violin for myself? Does anyone have any experience with this?
