Where do I put my finger for f# on the violin?

I'm learning how to play the violin and so far I'm going nowhere I really need help! My violin teacher is getting frustrated with me. Also I need help with the whole fingering biz thanks bye!

    ‘K. On your D string, put two fingers down. There should be a gap between the two.

    A good way to tune this note is to play an open D, then an E (first finger) then F (second finger close to the first), then F# (second finger moved up a little).

    Did your teacher put on tape or pencil marks? If she didn’t ask her to do so that way you’ll be able to finger everything correctly until you no longer need them to help you. Also, you can remember the open notes by this: starting from G, it goes up the alphabet up to the next g and start over again. For example, g is open then first finger is a, second is b, third is c, then the next open string is d, and so on. Of course these are not all the notes on the violin, but it will help won’t it?
