Should I start with the Violin or the Piano?

I'm quite musical and I really enjoy listening to both... I already play the Harmonium (http://www.shamanshop.net/store/images/images_SH/SH_HMMC.jpg) and I have done so for nearly 10 years now.

I'm really eager to learn how to play the Violin (or Viola) and the Piano despite not knowing how to read music...

Which one shall I start learning 1st?

Thanks!

What are some good violin and piano pieces?

I'm looking for a piece to play with a violinist for my AS music performance. There are a lot of pieces out there but I am only grade 7 (abrsm) standard and the performace can't last longer than four minutes, so it's difficult to find a piece. Plus the violin part can't be too time consuming and difficult to learn either.

Will really appreciate some answers, thanks!

First time purchase of a violin… What do I need to know?

I want to learn to play the violin. I have found a school that will teach me and they do hire out violins but as with anything it's best to have your own.

Unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about violins and would like to know what I need to know and look out for when acquiring my very first violin.

All your input would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Violin Finger Placement?

I'm trying to learn to play violin, but I'm accustomed to guitar (and therefore having frets, making precise finger placement unnecessary.)

But I cannot figure out where to place my fingers (or hand for that matter) on the strings to play the correct notes.

Surely there are finger placement charts somewhere so I can learn?

(I'm looking for something free and immediate.)
Also. I've heard that learning violin students will put "Fingering Tape" on the fingerboard to locate hand placement. So if you know where to put that tape, it would be a big help, if you recommend it.

I have always wanted to learn to play the piano but have , until now, been unable to afford the lessons. I can't even read music though. Do you think it is even worth the effort. I am also interested in the violin. Does anyone know how difficult learning it would be?
