1. Why is self esteem important?
It is simply the underlying quality for ANYTHING in life in all areas (relational, financial, emotional, spiritual, mental, social). In order to overcome challenges or obstacles we need some level of self-esteem each and every time.
It's quite easy to see the real value of self-esteem in situations when we don't have it or we see others displaying it in the way we would like to have it.
2. Don't we already have self-esteem?
This is what we assume, but ask yourself this: Have you ever gotten taught about how to raise self-esteem?
Self-esteem is not taught in school, kindergarten or university. Usually this valuable lesson is taught to us by life - we just have to pay attention. Two out of three Americans have low self-esteem. This means that only one third actually feels competent enough to handle life. Just HANDLE life! What would be like if failure, rejection, criticism etc simply did not affect you. affect you in any possible way. And here lies the true value of self-esteem.
3. How can we raise self-esteem?
A great mistake that people make is to look on outside factors to improve their inner self-esteem. However the key is to look on the inside. By shifting our focus on the things that we like we gain self-esteem naturally. Don't get desperate chasing things you believe you want but in the end it make you unhappy. Whatever steals our energy or causes fear and worry or any kind of misery needs to be eliminated.
4. Is it learned or is it in the DNA?
Contrary to common belief having high self esteem can absolutely be learned. In fact, most success stories (e.g. Michal Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, Richard Branson) tell the story of a hero who struggled and then rose above him or herself. Good news is that self esteem and the ability to learn it does not depend on things like gender, heredity, IQ, nationality, social status, age or profession. Once this is learned it becomes part of your personality and of your DNA.
5. What are methods to raise self-esteem?
Let's look closely to where it self-esteem derives from. Our inside is what is important here: Imagination, Intuition, Emotions and Thoughts. There are five possible way is to take in and process information: These are our five senses -visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, olfactory and gustatory.
